Ways to Help the How to Live in Recovery Program (HLR)
True happiness comes from carrying the message of loving-kindness to the food addict who still suffers:
- If you believe in our philosophy,
- If you believe that you must give back what you have so generously been given,
- If you understand that by doing service, you may be helping yourself more than you are helping others,
- Then, we invite you to become a part of our team.
Ways to Help the How to Live in Recovery Program (HLR)
IF YOU ARE A GRADUATE OF OUR PROGRAM
1. Become a Buddy (training provided)
Purpose: to help a new participant get started in their 10-week group, to assist them in putting their binder together, and guide them to stay focused on the homework.
Requirement questions:
1. Have you graduated from a How to Live in Recovery 10- Week Group?
2. Are you doing all your tools and support materials daily to be a good role model for new participants?
3. Are you willing to take the Buddy Training? (time commitment for training= 75 minutes)
4. Are you able to take 2 weekly phone calls from your participant? (time commitment= 15 minutes each call)
5. Are you able to commit to 10 weeks?
1. Become a Buddy (training provided)

Purpose: To guide members of the ORPG in their recovery journey through the readings and sharing on the weekly calls.

2. Have you attended 4+ weeks of an Ongoing Relapse Prevention Group?
3. Are you willing to attend the Co-facilitator Training? (time commitment= 2 sessions of 60 minutes each).
4. Are you willing to act as a back-up co-facilitator in case someone needs a substitute? (occasional).
5. Would you consider becoming a regular co-facilitator if an opening comes available? (time commitment= 1 group per
week)

Purpose: To guide members of the Steps 1-2-3 Go or the AWOL Groups in their recovery journey through the readings of the Keys, Comments, and Commentaries, through the sharing on those readings, and in working the steps.
Requirements questions:
1. Do you currently serve as a Co-facilitator or Back-Up Co-facilitator for the ORPG?
3. Are willing to attend the Steps Co-facilitator Training (time commitment= 2 sessions of 60 minutes each).
4. Are willing to shadow a Step Study Group for an appropriate number of weeks. (time commitment= 75 minutes each week)
5. Are willing to act as a back-up co-facilitator in case someone needs a substitute. (occasional).
6. Would consider becoming a regular co-facilitator if an opening comes available. (time commitment=75-90 minutes per week).

Purpose: To guide our newest participants as they begin their journey to recovery.

1. Do you currently serve as a Co-facilitator for the ORPG or Step Study Groups?

3. Are you willing to attend the HLR Co-facilitator Training (time commitment= 2 sessions of 60 minutes each).

Purpose: The purpose of the Administration team is multi-faceted. From registering groups and planning the schedule to updating documents and sending out invitations to trainings and conference calls, we are involved in every aspect of the HLR. Because of this, we need help big and small.
Questions:

Level 1: Have knowledge of Word and how to edit, save, and manipulate Word documents.
Level 2: Have knowledge of Excel and how to edit, save, and manipulate Excel documents.
We have service opportunities that utilize only the skills above,
BUT, if you have the basic knowledge listed above and want to do
more, you can receive training on the levels below:
Level 3: Have knowledge of Google Drive, how to upload documents to Google Drive, and how to copy and paste a link
into a Google document.
Level 4: Have knowledge of working within a website to be able to upload new documents.

- Is your recovery strong enough to add this level of service?
- Do you have time for the training (Level 1 & 2 below: two 30-minute sessions, Level 3 & 4 below: four 30-minute sessions)?
- Do you have the time to commit to the service (30 minutes-1 hour per week)?
- Can you call into the Administration monthly calls? 1 Saturday each month (6:30-7:00 am PT/ 9:30-10:00 am ET)?
